Verse 2 We needed... God to save us Cause we couldn’t save ourselves But so wondrous he becomes one of us Through him the world is justified Justified? (that’s a big word) Bridge All of this theology can be a bit confusin’ It’s enough to make your head spin ‘round and ‘round But bottom line remember is that Jesus means God loves you ‘cause he’s God and man in perfect harmony

Master of Disguise (Teresa of Calcutta) Music and Lyrics © 2011 Kenneth L. O’Connor Verse 1 Drain There was a man in a drain with dirt, and worms, oh that hell What a life of suff’ring Living like an animal in that way Verse 2: Rats She had been eaten by rats Her face, her legs, oh that smell Feelings of repugnance Wanting not to see her and look away But had I passed her by I wouldn’t be who I am today CHORUS: ‘Cause I saw Jesus in distressing disguise but It was Jesus And he opened my eyes of faith so to see the Lord, the Master of Disguise Verse 3: Hard It can at times be so hard to serve the poorest of the poor We can feel discouraged in the face of sadness and decay But had I passed them by I wouldn’t be who I am today Bridge: That’s the mission of charity finding Jesus in those we see and he could be no more present than he is in the poor --Interlude-- Final Chorus: Cause I saw Jesus in distressing disguise but It was Jesus And he opened my eyes of faith so to see The Lord, the Master of Disguise in distressing disguise but Will you see Jesus? If he opens your eyes of faith you will see The Lord, the Master of Disguise

Not My Will 04:20
Not My Will ©2012 Music and Lyrics Kenneth L. O'Connor Verse 1 A popular preacher Five Thousand in one day they were hanging on his every single word A notable healer His power from within When she merely touched the corner of his cloak He was welcomed by them Into Jerusalem They waved branches and sang Hosanna Verse 2 But there in the garden He turned to God in prayer Where he said“God take this cup away from me” And was there the question There burning in his mind Finding his salvific role one hard to fill There was much to be done Couldn’t God’s only Son do more than die as a criminal? Bridge: Cause He was 33 and in his prime How could it be this young man’s time? Chorus: Did he ask... Why must I die when I could do so much more? I could teach them, I could heal them I’ve got so much in store Why must I die when I could do so much more? so your people may know you, Father, yet not my will, but yours. Verse 3: He’s taken by the soldiers Betrayed by a friend’s kiss This is not the way that this should have played out And facing the leaders Degraded like a dog flogged and whipped and mocked and given a cross what an odd way to save treated as if a slave and rejected by those men of faith to Bridge/Chorus Final Bridge: But since it’s what he preached he had to know A seed must die so as to grow... Final Chorus Why I must die ‘cause I can do nothing more than to give them all my whole life and it’s what I’ve been sent for Why I must die ‘cause I can do nothing more so your people may know your glory not only mine, but yours.

One Man 04:17
One Man Music and Lyrics © 2011, Kenneth L. Verse 1: In the beginning there was just one man Before the law there still was sin As that first man he chose to disobey the Lord The reign of death was ushered in CHORUS: Verse 2: A new beginning with a whole new man The trespass nothing like this gift And through obedience he brought us back to God Salvation history’s great shift Bridge: It’s a new world we’re living in Not slaves to death, not slaves to sin Now we’ve the free gift of righteousness and new life in Christ Jesus the world is transformed from within.

Pange Lingua 03:29
Pange Lingua Words: St. Thomas Aquinas Music: Kenneth L. O’Connor © 2012 Sing, my tongue, the Savior's glory, of His flesh the mystery sing; of the Blood, all price exceeding, shed by our immortal King, destined, for the world's redemption, from a noble womb to spring. Of a pure and spotless Virgin born for us on earth below, He, as Man, with man conversing, stayed, the seeds of truth to sow; then He closed in solemn order wondrously His life of woe. On the night of that Last Supper, seated with His chosen band, He the Pascal victim eating, first fulfills the Law's command; then as Food to His Apostles gives Himself with His own hand. Word-made-Flesh, the bread of nature by His word to Flesh He turns; wine into His Blood He changes; what though sense no change discerns? Only be the heart in earnest, faith her lesson quickly learns.

Divine Mercy 05:35
Divine Mercy Music and Lyrics © 2008/2009 Kenneth L. O’Connor Verse 1: What did Peter deserve for his denial? Rejecting the one that he said was God’s own Son? Apostasy, it’s a crime in the Bible And death would fit the bill for what he’d done. So when Jesus re-appeared on the third day He should have given Peter that which he was due. But that’s not what he did on the third day (No) He stretched his arms and said “Peace be with you.” CHORUS Divine mercy That defines mercy It’s God’s saving grace when it seems so out of place ooo ooo ooo divine mercy. Verse 2: All the apostles, save one, had abandoned him ‘Twas only the women and John left standing by The others left him when things started looking grim And left him on the cross alone to die So when Jesus re-appeared on the third day He could’ve told them he could abandon them too. And send them all to Hell on the last day But he stretched his arms and said, “Peace be with you.” CHORUS --harmonica solo-- Verse 3 Thomas doubted that Christ was truly risen He wasn’t there in the room when he appeared He wanted proof and more than what was given He had to touch the side that had been speared So when Jesus re-appeared that very next week He said “Thomas you can touch these wounds of mine” And Thomas hit the ground; his knees had gone weak And he stretched out his arms said, “Lord you are Divine!” CHORUS: Mercy that’s divine mercy It’s God giving more than we could ever ask him for ooo divine mercy.. That defines mercy It’s God’s saving grace when it seems so out of place ooo ooo ooo divine mercy. Chorus Divine mercy Divine mercy

The Name 02:46
The Name Music and Lyrics © 2010 Kenneth L O’Connor Based on Philippians 2:6-11 Chorus At the name of Jesus Every knee shall bend From those in the heavens to under the earth And every tongue shall confess That Jesus Christ is Lord To the glory of God, Amen! Verse 1 Though he was in the form of God He did not deem equality with God something to be grasped But no, he emptied himself and took the form of slave born in the world like one of us. Verse 2 He was known to be of human estate Thus it was that he humbled himself even unto death And so, God exalted him and gave to him the name the name that’s above every name

Pentecost 04:31
Pentecost Words and music © 2008 Kenneth L. O'Connor Verse 1 And after forty days You ascended into heaven Leaving your disciples looking up into the sky But you would not abandon them Leave them to their own devices Your great gift yet to give them. CHORUS: You sent your spirit, O Lord upon your Church your very living presence who said that that you were not gone you gave them power and courage to go out to the world to carry your message on Verse 2 For after your last meal you had said to your disciples, “There will be an Advocate who will come in my name He will teach you everything and remind you what I told you. The best that I can give you CHORUS: I send my spirit to you upon my Church my very living presence To know that I am not gone. He’ll give you power and wisdom to be out to the world to carry my Good News on” Verse 3 And after many years of those holy men and women who’ve carried your Good News whether in season or not The Church still needs your Spirit here to inspire, help, and guide us the best that you can spare us CHORUS Send your Spirit, O Lord, upon your Church Your living, breathing presence that will allow us to be your Holy Temple of living stones to proclaim to the world you’re the truth who sets us free

about

This album is a collection of songs that function sort of as a "who Jesus is to me at this point in my life" collection. These songs contain themes about Jesus that I would like for people to know. some of them are things that I have taught and preached in my first ten years of priesthood, and I wanted to put those themes into song. Although these eleven songs do not convey everything of who Jesus is (what eleven songs could?), I hope that this is at least a good start in knowing a person of Jesus Christ.
