about

Words and music © 2015 Kenneth L. O’Connor
This song is inspired from some of the tragic funerals that I have had to do as a priest. There are funerals of those who died so suddenly, senselessly, and so young; that we ask the question, “Why would God allow such a terrible thing to happen?” These are the events that shake our faith to the core. In these times, people particularly need to know that God is a God of Justice and Mercy. God knows what is going on in our lives. In the end, God will sort it all out. The second verse, which is Jesus speaking to the woman caught in adultery (see John 8), also provides a strange contrast to the first verse. In the first verse, we should be calling out for justice. In the second verse, we should be calling out for mercy. God is both.
